Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston, SC.

Time

It was about midday when I took this beautiful bird's picture.

Lighting

Lucky enough there was a lot of windows that let in a lot of natural light and add with that the lights they had in the Aquarium, it helped with the nice shadows and to make this picture so awesome.

Equipment

I used my canon rebel xs with my 75-300 lens. I didn't use my flash because of all the natural lighting.

Inspiration

Bald eagles are the nation's symbol and I have never had the opportunity to photograph one. He sitting there all majestic like and he look like he was ready to have his picture taken.

Editing

I don't use a lot of post-processing stuff. I do use some to help balance out the color but that is about it. I like to try to use the raw image as much as possible.

In my camera bag

I always have my 75-300 lens and 18-55 lens along with my flash in my bag. I never know what I may find to photograph, so I always have to be prepared.

Feedback

Always take multiple shots because you never know which one will be the best. Watch out for people, if you are in a crowded place like an aquarium there will always people trying to get in your way just be mindful of them. Try different lighting for different outcomes, you may want to use a flash instead of the natural lighting. Also, if you are in a place like an aquarium be mindful of signs the say no flash photography because some of the fish or other animals are light sensitive and can go blind. Also, always be prepared because you know what you may run across in your adventures.
