Watersmeet is precisely what the name means. Watersmeet House was a former fishing lodge in Lynmouth North Devon, and used today as an information centre and tearoom which has been owned by the National Trust since 1996.
The former fishing lodge dates from approximately 1832 and stands at the bottom of a deep gorge at the confluence of the East Lyn River and the Hoar Oak Water, which runs into Watersmeet. Watersmeet House is the start-off point for some 40 miles of woodlands, streamsides, small waterfalls and seaside walks. The woodland is notable for its endemic species of trees.
