This was shot at Formby beach Merseyside. It's a lovely stretch of coastline famous for its red squirrels in the pine woods behind the beachTime
Shot just after sunset, I was actually walking back to the car when I turned and was faced with these awesome clouds. I didn't realise there was a face looking down on me from the clouds until I'd got the picture up in lightroomLighting
The natural light was slowly fading, but I just caught the last remnants of glow from a fading sunsetEquipment
I shot this with my first DSLR a Nikon D3200 and 50mm kit lens. All strapped onto a sturdy tripodInspiration
I live very close to where this was taken, and I'm often found down on the beach at sunset. There's no end of different kinds of shot along the merseyside coastline.Editing
I always shoot in Raw so I use lightroom for the majority of my post processing. This has had just the usual adjustments, exposure, contrast, saturation and a little sharpening. In my camera bag
At the moment I take my Nikon D7100 along with my Samyang 14mm manual focus, which I absolutely love especially for night sky work. Verbatim tripod, shutter release and the usual lens wipes etc. If I'm not going on a long hike I'll have a 100mm zoom in the bag as well and some ND filters.Feedback
As I'd not planned this shot I would say to always check your surroundings even if your walking away from your location. Also stay well after sunset for some lovely colours
