A wriggling spasmatic creature you wouldn't normally notice when looking into pond water. I believe this is a buzzer midge larvae, 1-4 inch in length, caught in a brief moment of calm amidst its constant violent flickering movements. It's "head" and tail are blurred in mid-twitch. The vibrant red color is a stark contrast to its plain murky green habitat.
