Thanks for the likes and awards! I was lucky to get this shot. It was windy so the flag was waving in front of the monument.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at the Washington Monument in Washington D.C.

Time

This photo was taken in the early afternoon as we were strolling around Washington D.C. It was a very windy and cold afternoon. I decided it would make a nice image if I could get the American flag in the photo as well.

Lighting

The lighting was perfect that day. It was a crisp, chilly winter afternoon.

Equipment

Handheld Canon T5i camera; no tripod.

Inspiration

I was inspired to take the photo due to the rich history of our nation's capitol. I wanted to make a photo of the iconic Washington monument stand out from other photos I've seen. That's when I stood near the base and shot straight up. I made sure the flag was visible to add to the meaning of the photo.

Editing

The only thing I did to the photo was to slightly crop it.

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon t51 with the 58mm lens. I also have my 55-200mm lens, some macro lenses, batteries and a charger and extra memory cards. I also keep a small emergency bag with pins, thread, etc. for those emergencies at weddings!

Feedback

Just take a look around you and try to capture what interests you! If you can, take a "normal" subject and change your perspective to create your own image.
