Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo of a flower from a mimosa tree on my family's farm in Andrews, South Carolina. This tree means a lot to my family, the tree was planted years ago to represent growth.

Time

These types of trees bloom with flowers for only a month out of the summer. I took this picture late one summer evening after spending the day picking apples and blueberries from other trees in our field.

Lighting

I wanted the lighting in this photo to really capture the golden glow the sun was casting as it set.

Equipment

this is by far one of the simplest shots I have ever taken. I did not use a tripod or any type of lens

Inspiration

The location of this tree is very special to me. It was taken on a farm. The nearest store or public facility being thirty minutes away. The property is covered in fruit trees, and scenic South Carolina landscape. Evert time I go there I make it a point to capture the natural and rural beauty of the place. In this photo I wanted to highlight the glow the sun can give.

Editing

As far as post processing goes, all used here was some cropping effects and i boosted the saturation slightly and bumped the contrast to give the colors more definition.

In my camera bag

The first thing i pack is my go to camera choice. I use the Fuji film Fine pix S8650 , its lens have a 36x zoom and a super wide 25- 900mm lens. this camera is very reliable and affordable. Also I keep with me a Fuji film instax mini 7S instant camera. I am currently collecting images for a project I am working on. Lastly, I use a collapsible Targus tripod.

Feedback

I try to be an advocate for natural beauty. I tend to keep editing to a minimum. I always try to use the suns natural lighting, and focus on certain times of the day for different lighting. My best advice to obtain similar images would be to keep the setting simple and don't be afraid to exercise patience. keeping focus on the often overlooked parts of nature would help as well.
