Location
This photo was taken at the Milwaukee County Zoo.Time
I took this photo during a busy afternoon at the zoo.Lighting
The lighting here is poor. You need to be able to shoot at as low an F-Stop as you can. Just to try and get by the dirty windows.Equipment
I shot this with my Canon 50D and a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 lens. Hand held.Inspiration
Whenever I need to feel inspired I will take a walk around the zoo. There is always something or someone to photograph. The ape house is always fun because the animals will usually pose or at least seem somewhat interested in what YOU are doing.Editing
I just made some adjustments in Light Room. Nothing special. In my camera bag
My Canon50D, Sigma 70-200 2.8 (IS), Tamron 17-50 2.8 (IS), 580EXII Flash, a set of extension tubes and a Tamron Sp 2x convertor.Feedback
You really need to shoot at the lowest possible F Stop to help make the glass disappear. Otherwise you will see the glass. Manual focus is best if you have time. Shoot at an ISO that will give you at least 1/200th of a second. I am usually at ISO800. A tripos or mono pod is nice, but when its busy I found that little kids are always tripping on it. Use your center focus point if you choose to use auto focus. Always, Always , Always focus on the eyes.
