Her story -
Betsy Sue was adopted from Animal Services, by a Johnson family, in Aug of 2014. She was Heartworm Negative. The people had her for seven months. They made her live outside, tethered, no water, no shelter. She would break free and run to my house, repeatedly.
In Nov of 2014, I took Betsy to Animal Services. The Johnson's paid the $100 fine to get her back. In March of 2015, I took Betsy back to Animal Services. The Johnson's did not pay the $160 fine to get her. I adopted her on March 9, 2015. She was Heartworm Positive.
I began treatment for Betsy Sue, one week later. First 30 days was Doxycycline. She coughed up a puddle of blood with larvae.
April 21, 2015 - Betsy Sue was given the first of three injections. 12 days later, Betsy woke me up with coughing up pools of blood and worms up to eight inches long. The blood and worms just kept coming as we got her out of the kennel, through my bedroom, down the hall, through the kitchen, out the door, through the carport to my vehicle in order to rush her to emergency. She did not make it.
We and our home were bathed in blood and worms. She died in my husband's arms as he was putting her in the kennel I was keeping in the jeep for her to be traveled, calmly, back and forth, to and from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
The Johnson family adopted Betsy from Animal Services as a healthy dog. They gave her the death sentence! Betsy was not called Betsy at that time. I gave her a new name and hopes for a better life but these people already sealed her fate with their abuse!
I had to watch my precious Betsy Sue die a horrific death because of the abuse from the Johnson family. Betsy Sue tried so hard to get to become my dog. She became my dog. She got to enjoy eight weeks of being in my name as owner. But - the Johnson family killed her!
