Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photograph outside in my small town (in Washington State) of my cat looking out the window.
Time
It was early afternoon sometime! I just finished lunch! Swiss grilled cheese with a side of cottage cheese! Yum! Perfect photographer's lunch!
Lighting
I didn't use any special lighting -- it was all natural light pouring into the windows!
Equipment
I used a bridge camera (Sony DSC-HX300)(fixed Carl Zeiss lens) without a tripod and no flash! The image stabilization is awesome!
Inspiration
It was an unusual sunny day outside and no rain! I live in a county called Grays Harbor -- (namely so because it's always gray outside from the rain -- after all, we're less than a 100 miles from Seattle)! Anyways, the warm day invited a couple of humming birds to the feeder outside and my cat named "Seahawk" aka "Cloe Bug" aka "Khaleesi" was watching them attentively through the window dreaming of the perfect snack dip (I guess it was like hummus to her, get it? ;) I went outside to capture her expression and I don't think she was too happy that I scared away her fantasy meal.
Editing
I converted this image to Black & White and then did a Separate Light & Shadows (Sharpen) in Gimp.
In my camera bag
I have my camera, some macro filters (lenses), Circular PL, ND Filter, a macro light, tripod, camera cleaning kit and don't forget your rain cover if you live in a wet and wild place like I do!
Feedback
My advice is to get a humming bird feeder and put it outside way up high where no creature can harm these beautiful birds and don't let your cat out. But position it where kitty can be distracted and then run out and take a photograph! If lighting conditions are good outside, you'll capture a sharp photograph with no glare!
