This photo was taken in 2009 in a studio set up at a convention.Time
Inside and controlled lighting. As near as I can remember we used a black backdrop with lighting to her left front, a large umbrella reflecting the light.Lighting
The lighting was set for F 9.0 at 125 of a sec. If you can eliminate the most of ambient light I find you have better control of the lighting.Equipment
Used a Nikon D 700 with a zoom lens. Used Calumet strobes for lighting.Inspiration
A chance to take photos of a beautiful Lady with a good lighting setup...Who wouldn't.Editing
Opened in PhotoShop and soften the skin a little got rid of the stray hairs and made sure the background was solid black. It didn't take long, there wasn't that much to correct. In my camera bag
When I go on my photo trips I usually take several bags with me. I have one for all my SB 800's and light modifiers and small flash stands. In my other bag I have two bodies 700 & 800 one fast lens and several zoom lens. I also take two tripods just in case. Father time has not been good to this old body so I drive every I go, so I can take as much equipment as I want, which sometimes is a good thing.Feedback
If you have a room where you can control the lighting and eliminate the background so you can set the light on your subject which should be the main focus. You can get backgrounds on the web for reasonable prices. I've used a PVC pipe drilled holes in the ends and hung it with paracord. I would keep at least 5 feet between the backdrop and your subject and defiantly focus in on there eyes.
