E. Michael Jones was the Town Crier of St. George's Bermuda at the time. Here he sets off a welcoming charge from his cannon as cruise ships enter the harbor. I have to give you a little more background. I was standing around with a group of tourists waiting for the moment the Town Crier would fire off his cannon and he did. The tourists left as he started to pack up and we struck up a conversation. He asked me what I did for a living and I told him that I was a photographer. He asked if I would take another shot of him and I said "sure but I only have one more exposure left on this roll of transparency film and no more film with me" - yes, this was taken back in the days of film. When I set my camera up on the tripod I had him rehearse a countdown with me, "one, two, three, fire." When I felt like we had the timing down we counted off together and I squeezed the shutter as he detonated the cannon charge. I had no idea if I had captured the moment until the film came back.
