I took this photo in China in the red earth area.Time
This photo was taken on December 5, 2012 at around 5:46 am.Lighting
This photo was taken with natural light. The natural smogginess of the sky creates for some very diffuse nice lighting.Equipment
I shot this with a Canon Rebel on a tripod.Inspiration
I was on a photo tour with a group of other photographers. The tour guides worked with local people to get persons willing to model for us. This man agreed. He was cheerful and delightful to work with even though this is not his regular gig. He is a farmer by trade. I am not sure if his dog was as hot on the idea or not.Editing
I don't recall exactly what processing I did. Probably adding a little clarity and color adjustments. In my camera bag
I have way more in my bag now that I did back then. But I had the essentials. A Canon Rebel, (I have a 60D now) a couple of lenses, a cable release cord, extra batteries and lots of memory cards. And no doubt a Snickers bar. We were in very rural parts of China and I was not a big fan of the food. I was over the moon when I found stores that sold Snickers bars.Feedback
Photographing someone in the surroundings that they are comfortable in helps to put them at ease and get a variety of expressions.
