This was shot 500 yards off the shore of Lake Ontario in Northern New York. This was after a very long and cold winter the spring thaw combined with wind produce these car-house sized chunks of ice. I could feel the ice shifting and hear it cracking which at times would sound like a shotgun blast.
Because the sunset was not as beautiful as I would like I added a 10 stop ND filter to bring the exposure time of 161 seconds to really capture as much color and movement as possible.
