A stunning sunrise and altogether a very beautiful image. Capturing the wildfowl in the lake also adds a great deal of feeling to the image itself. Paul.

Behind The Lens

Location

In Dunedin, NZ at Tomahawk Lagoon. This is a small lagoon in one of the suburbs known for bird life.

Time

About 7am. I was on my way to work and was captivated firstly by the sky and then by the reflections.

Lighting

I wanted to show the intensity of that morning's sunrise. This was made more intense by Bush fires in Australia.

Equipment

Very basic......my old Olympus E-420 and an 18-55 kit lens with the roof of my car as a "tripod".

Inspiration

The amazing light and colours on show, both in the sky and in the water.

Editing

No.

In my camera bag

I have a Canon 600D, Canon 700D, 60mm macro lens, 10-18mm landscape/astro lens, 18-55 & 50-250 kit lenses. An Olympus TG4, Samsung point and shoot, small pair of binocs, spare batteries, remote releases (2 IR, 1 cable), spare memory, lens cleaner, Kaiser starlights, torch & gorilla pod.

Feedback

This one was sheer luck. I would say always keep your eyes open for any opportunity, have your camera ready to go. Check the weather patterns for calm days that might be a little over cast (for interesting clouds) and above all enjoy what you do. It shows in the photos.
