Behind The Lens

Location

I spent ten days exploring spectacular scenery of Norway, roaming along Norwegian west coast in Arctic like conditions

Time

I cought a boat around 11am early April passing through Aurlandsfjord. The sun was at the perfect height and angle to highlight the subject and give enough luminescence to its water reflection

Lighting

I think the lighting was the key to capture this mysterious contrast and truly reveal the enormous size of these cliffs created by a glacier.

Equipment

This was shot on Nikon D600 using Nikkor 24-85mm lens. It took me several attempts to steady my hands as I didn't have a tripod and the outside temperature was so cold, that my entire body was shivering

Inspiration

I wanted to capture a breathtaking location in the early spring before snow melts away. When you observe the nature, you realise that the lifespan of a particular view is a brief interlude in a panorama of endless change.

Editing

No post processing work has been done on this photo. I preferred to keep the cool tones of daylight to correspond with the weather conditions on that day

In my camera bag

I always carry my Nikon D600 and a couple of lenses.

Feedback

If you ever venture out on any expedition in skandinavian country.. bring tripod and warm clothing as your body won't stop shivering! It will take endless efforts to get camera in focus to capture a crisp image ????
