Location
This photo was taken in the dance studio I grew up dancing in. I grabbed my best friend and we stayed there for 4 hours shooting. This is my favorite image from the shoot.Time
By this time of day the sun had set, thus making the room completely back with the exception of the flash.Lighting
I wanted it to be back lit, to emulate the stage lights that one might see during a performance. I used a remote flash for this shot. I had an assistant, my father actually, hold and angle the flashEquipment
I shot this with a Nikon D3300 and used a remote flash. I did use a tripod during the shoot, but not on this particular shot.Inspiration
This photo came from my love of dance and my 13 years of classes. While ballet, pointe in particular, is a common subject for photographers, I wanted to try my hand at some shots of my own after all the investment I had put into the art.Editing
The main thing that was adjusted was the exposure. I just darkened the background a little bit as this was taken before I learned my way around light room.In my camera bag
Just my Nikon D3300 and a lens, usually an 18-70mm Nikon.Feedback
Shoot with someone who is knowledgeable about the art, my background in dance made the shoot all the more fun!
