I took the photo in Sakania, Democratic Republic of the CongoTime
This was taken at sunset. The DRC is exquisite and I used to finish work and drive around the rural areas looking for anything unique to photographLighting
The DRC is so stunning and the light is always golden with warm hues. I was just looking for a way to make the light stand out even more than it did already.Equipment
This photo was taken when I had just started out in photography. I had just learnt how manual worked. I was so excited that I knew how my camera actually worked. I went out every day to take photos just so that I could use my camera "properly". I shot this picture with the Canon 1100D. No tripod or flash or filter. Just my camera.Inspiration
As I have said before, it's so beautiful there. I wanted to capture every magical moment there. So I was out everyday photographing. However I wanted to capture the sunsets in a unique way. I did not want to do the usual sunset over a mountain scene. (Not that there were any mountains. I wanted to see the sunset in a different way, from a different angle.Editing
No I did not. I could barely open photoshop, let alone use it. So what you see is what you get.In my camera bag
When I took this image, I had a camera, kit lens and a towel (my tripod). These days I have a Canon 70D, 100mm macro lens, 50mm prime lens, two kit lenses, a wide angle lens and two flashes. Oh and also a tripod (I have moved up from a towel)Feedback
I must admit I don't have any photographic altering advice. My advice would be, get outside and find the beauty in the world around you. Look up and down and all around and you will capture the beauty.
