Thank you Yvonne..I was on a hike with my friends, the forest was very dense and dark though it was a beautiful sunny fall day. This display of sun rays caught my eye, I stopped to enjoy the moment and capture the warmth I felt..

Location
A beautiful December hike to Lower Lena Lake in the Olympic National Forest in the State of Washington.Time
We were heading down the trail back to civilization around mid afternoon.Lighting
The trail is heavily forested in certain areas where it becomes quite dark. This ray of sunshine caught my eye and took my breath away.Equipment
I used my trusty Nikon with a DX VR 18-140mm 1:35-5.6 G ED lens.Inspiration
I so enjoy being in the outdoors and capturing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest is the best. As I hike I keep my eyes moving as if my eye is a camera and I see things that I wouldn't normally see. A lot of the trails in the Olympics are dark and some say gloomy with the moss thick as curtains in some places but as you can see there is beauty in the dark. I had to capture this sun ray for it was showing off the beauty of the forest in a whole new light..Editing
I post processed this photo in Lightroom. I toned down some of the white balance and played with the color some.In my camera bag
When I hike I bring a single lens with me which is always my 18-140mm and something to clean my lens with.Feedback
My only advice is to be in tuned to your surroundings. Take many shots and move around to get different perspectives of what your shooting.
