My husband and I had taken a day trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and were on our way home at sunset. This beautiful photo op presented itself and we just had to stop and take a chance that the pictures would turn out to be as beautiful as the sky was that evening and sure enough I was fortunate enough to get the colors just as they were. We have passed that area many times since then, but I have never seen the sky and water again as beautiful as it was that particular evening. I believe the photo also captured the peace of the moment.Time
I thought Oklahoma sunsets were the most beautiful in the world until I came across this one in North Carolina, my new home state.Lighting
The evening light was perfect for this stunning shot.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7000, Aperture F/5.6, ISO 720, Shutter 10/2500, Focal Length 1050/10.Inspiration
The great thing was I was on my way home from a long drive and wow it just was there.Editing
The most wonderful thing about this picture was that the colors in print were exactly the way they looked that evening. In my camera bag
I usually carry my D7100 Nikon camera with an additional 300mm lens. The past few years I also carry and use extensively a Cyber Shot Sony camera. I was pleasantly surprised at the good pictures I can get with this camera.Feedback
There was no way I could have planned this moment in time. My advice is when an opportunity presents itself - don't pass it up.
