Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Salem Willows in Salem, MA. The Salem Willows is an area in Salem which is located right along the water and has a strip of ice cream, Chinese food, and pizza places. Along with all the places to get food there are arcades to play games at. Since this place is right along the water, there are seawalls that protect it from the waves during storms. This photo was taken while I was sitting on one of those walls.

Time

This photo was taken during sunset on a beautiful summer day.

Lighting

The sun was setting which is why this photo is well lit. The setting sun also is what gives the photo a yellowish-orange glow.

Equipment

Oddly enough, this photo (one of my most viewed photos) was actually taken on an iPhone 5s and not on my camera.

Inspiration

I was sitting on the seawall watching the sunset with some friends. Looking down, I saw my camera sitting on my lap and the light hitting the sun. The Gen Z woman I am, I decided to snap an artsy photo of my camera to share on Snapchat with my friends. Little did I know this one photo would become one of my most popular on Viewbug.

Editing

There was no post-processing, the photo is the original!

In my camera bag

Typically in my camera bag I have my NIKON D3200, three SD cards, and two extra batteries. It's a pretty small and simple bag but it gets the job done!

Feedback

Make sure the sky is clear and there are no clouds. Find a spot where light from the sunset can flood in. Have fun with playing around with where you're sitting and what you want to capture.
