Behind The Lens

Location

I actually took it from the top of our camper!! My husband and I live in the country outside of a little town in Texas. Perfect for wide open shots. You never know what you may see!!

Time

I took this shot right about sunset. I guess that's kind of a given, right? Sunsets are pretty much perfect out in the fields!

Lighting

With nothing to obstruct my view, the lighting was perfect. The sun had just gone down below the clouds. Bright but not too harsh as to flood anything.

Equipment

I took this shot on a Nikon Coolpix P100. My first camera!

Inspiration

We had just moved to our new homestead and I just couldn't get over how wide open everything was. I wanted to get more of the landscape on film and thought I would try from higher up off the ground. I've always loved sunsets and couldn't pass this one up!

Editing

I usually try to clean up with Adobe Photoshop. Darken the shadows and bring out the colors a bit more. Sometimes you need a little help I think.

In my camera bag

I always carry another battery! Also lens cleaning equiptment is a must when you are out in the country. There is so much dust!

Feedback

Try to find that moment when the sky makes everything pink and peach. The higher up off the ground you are, the better perspective. Just be careful!
