Great photo. I've been trying to catch the lorikeets at our place, but of course every time I reach for the camera they fly off.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on my property in Northern N.S.W. Australia.

Time

I stood in some bushes on seeing the approach of a flock of Lorikeets. This one landed so close I felt I could have reached out and touched him. I didn't though. Instead taking as many shots as I could before they all flew off.

Lighting

I always find the natural sunlight to be the best enhancement of bird photography.

Equipment

My trusty Nikon D3200 with an 18-105mm lens.

Inspiration

My love of birds and Nature are my greatest inspirations. I will often just take my camera out for a walk and let nature show me what it has on offer.

Editing

I only ever use basic post-processing. Cropping, light adjustment etc.

In my camera bag

As I live on a large property, I very rarely take anything more than my camera. I do sometimes swap lenses though.

Feedback

My biggest advice to anyone would be to have patience. I live in what I would call a bird haven. Sometime there are a few around, but if I wait more will always come. I would also say never lose sight of how much fun it is trying to achieve good shots.
