Beautiful composition. I love the red umbrella and the fall scene! Welcome to Viewbug.

Location
This photo was taken on a trail near the Rideau River in Strathcona Park in Ottawa. It was the first time I had ever visited the park and I couldn't help but have my "touristic-mode" (as my friends like to describe it) on that day. I had lived in the city for a while but never once had I set foot in that area yet and it was just too exciting to not want to pull the camera out!Time
It's been a while now but this photo was taken on October 25, 2014. I remember debating with my friend - the model pictured above - about going on our park adventure seeing how it was a pretty chilly day for fall weather. The wind was blowing and boy oh boy were we regretting the choice of choosing fall jackets over winter ones, haha, but a fall photoshoot was set in our minds that day. Off we went to get some memories of fall before it was too late and winter settled in.Lighting
Um... not really? Haha, I'm not too sure actually. Just natural lighting and making sure the automatic white balance didn't throw any of the colours off or make the scene look bad I suppose. I'm kind of a self-taught photographer and am still learning the different terminology and techniques that come with the trade but I'm well aware of the importance of good lighting when it comes to taking a great shot. Luckily, I was blessed with the natural light of the semi-setting sun that day.Equipment
You might not believe me but all I used was the camera found on my friend's iPad that day. As a student, I'm still waiting for the day to not worry about school payments first and foremostly, lol. Thankfully, my friend graciously lent me her iPad which had a much better camera than my iPod back then. Took a picture with the camera app, enhanced some of the details on my computer and then voilà! A nice memory to cherish forever. :)Inspiration
Long story short, it was a visually nice fall day, two friends decided to have a fall photoshoot on the spot, an umbrella was brought along in case it rained and the location was perfect. Add to the mix the photographer who had the random desire to have a scene kind of like an evening stroll in Paris and there you have it: a pituresque evening stroll of a silhouette with a red umbrella in downtown Ottawa.Editing
Post-processing yes but I couldn't tell you the actual terms of what I did since I'm still a photography newbie. I definitely enhanced and played around with the colour scheme once I uploaded the picture to my computer and I remember using the photo-editing application Google+ provided back in the past before it switched to Photos. After dabbling around a bit more with the exposure, highlights, shadows, vignetting and colour hues/saturations in other similar apps such as Fotor, Pixlr and Polarr, I liked the photo enough and it matched the pituresque-fall-moment idea I was going for. I never thought it would be so well liked by others so I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. :)In my camera bag
Although I don't quite have the typical "camera bag", I try to always carry around with me a device that has a camera of some sort in it just in case there's this really great moment of the day, person or thing that appears and would make a really great picture for future memories. Chargers always seem to come in handy but since you might not always be somewhere with an outlet, I usually make sure that any battery is charged to at least 80% full. Last but not least, a little snack on the side with some water is never a bad idea - especially when your 30-minute outing stretches out to a few long hours worth of walking, taking photos and walking some more, lol.Feedback
Always have your creative eyes on and be ready for the next great shot you'll take. Whether it be the colours, the shapes, the layout or a combination of these factors and more that draws your attention to a particular scene, don't hesitate in looking a little bit foolish while you're taking a picture because there's nothing wrong with being a photography aficionado on the road to becoming a better photographer. Just do you and share part of the world you see and live in.
