Deafness has been a huge part of my life from birth, being brought up by deaf and hard of hearing parents. This image is from a small personal project of intimate, candid moments captured of the daily lives of my parents; documenting the barriers which people with hearing impairments face, how they overcome them and the equipment that is implemented for accessibility and retaining independence. This image shows the circuit box that is linked to my front doorbell. When pressed, the doorbell flashes the lights inside the house which alerts my parents.
