Behind The Lens

Location

This moment was captured at frontyard of my home in Semarang City, Central of Java, Indonesia.

Time

it started when I was waking up very early morning and was about to walking around. it was 5.00 or 5.30 am I walked out of the door and suddenly i saw a little green snake hanging up on a branch of a tree. So I decided to come back inside and grab my camera and also tripod. The next thing was I sat down nearby the tree to wacthing over the snake. it tooks few hours until a lizard came over to snake and I started taking picture as well. It was ended by the moment of snake consumed the lizard till the last piece of it and it was ended at 8.PM. This photo i take at April 30.2008. 7:44:10 AM

Lighting

It was still dark early morning so I deciced to use simple lighting technique. and also, It was because I was running out of time so I was just using internal falsh and a tripod. It was nothing else crossed my mind except how to capture the moment, so , to make the picture with dramatic effect (dark background), I turned on internal flash. That was it.

Equipment

I was using camera Canon 40D with lens 75-300 mm F/3.5-5.6 and a tripod, and a chair so I can sat and observed. Wait I also used a glass of coffee to keep calm and stayed. :) and It was a really perfect moment to remember. :v

Inspiration

I was inspired by "Great moments", it was snake which was seeking a snack. Not everybody were lucky enough to see a poisonious snake hanging up at a frontyard among the branches of a tree, in the middle of city.

Editing

Yes, I was using photoshop to increase contrast and adjust saturation up. I was also using sharpen mask to make it looks dramatic.

In my camera bag

as other normal photographer, main equipment, I have one or two cameras, some lenses which are tele and wide lenses type, filters, one tripod, and some flashes. sometimes I also have some extra bateries, memory cards, and a book.:)

Feedback

There is no specifics advice on this, just normally as other photographers do to take a picture. But on this moment, the most important is more practise whenever and whereever we are, then great moments will comes along. and dont forget, "There's nothing wrong with photography. It's just a matter of likes and dislikes as well as the changing period to the beauty and balance".
