I traveled to the Chinese province of Xinjiang, which is world's away from what people think when they think of China. It's a whole other country! I visited the famous livestock market in Kashgar, where you see more animals than people. It's mostly ran and visited by men. This little girl with her sparkly dress caught my eye.

Location
I took this photo while traveling in Xinjiang, the most northwestern province in China. This is at the city of Kashgar's livestock market, where locals (mostly men) come to sell and/or buy animals. If you decide to eat there, your meal would probably have been walking around a few minutes ago.Time
I got there early in the morning as that is the recommend time to come and observe all the market has to offer. When I took this photo, we had been there a couple of hours. It was around 9 am.Lighting
I got fairly lucky as it was taken in the shade and there's not too much contrast.Equipment
Canon 50D with a 70-135 mm lens. No flash nor tripod was used.Inspiration
After walking around for a couple of hours in this dusty place filled mainly with men and boys, my eyes were drawn to this little girl with a white sparkly dress and boyish haircut. I had a hunch this would be one of my favorite photos of that trip. And I was correct!Editing
I'm not a fan of over processing my photos. I adjusted the contrast, sharpened the scene, and burned certain areas surrounding the girl.In my camera bag
I just have my Canon 50D, a 50mm lens, a 70-135mm lens, batteries, a charger, and dust blower.Feedback
Whenever you travel to a place you've never been before, read up on what to expect. In this case, I read that it was best to come in the morning as there is more happening. Also, I found out that it was a very dusty place, so I brought my dust blower and wipes. Walk around different parts of the area to discover something unexpected (at least to you). Don't settle in one area for too long.
