Location
This was taken in the lounge of a friends house who appear in the image.Time
LunchtimeLighting
This was taken with the curtains slightly open so only a small amount of light could get through and illuminate the subjects face. It was a bright day and too much light would have spoiled the effect that I was after.Equipment
A Fuji XE-2 and 35mm lens were my equipment. Shot at F1.4 for the shallow depth of field.Inspiration
This man was a friend of mine who I felt had an amazingly characteristic face. The years of experiences could be seen on his face so I wanted to capture the essence of him and his life.Editing
The only post processing was to turn the image into Black and WhiteIn my camera bag
I have a selection of Fuji's, XE-1, XE-2, XT-1, X100T and now a Leica Q which has become my favourite go to camera. I also have a Canon 5D but only use that for sporting events.Feedback
If anyone is trying to capture an image like this then the subject is very important, you must control the light and choose the correct camera and lens combo to suit the task. Plan your shoot for the correct time of day so the light is best for you and the job in hand. I am never without a camera of some kind just in case that important image appears.
