Behind The Lens

Location

I really wish I knew where I took this photograph!! Now I know that may sound a little strange but.... Being from South Africa and on my first visit to Australia, I was doing a road trip from Albury/Wodonga to Melbourne with my son. I do know it was past Springhurst and before Rutherglen. Lets just say I turned a three hour journey into nine hours and that was just getting us half way there!!

Time

Now that took some working out because my camera tells me it was 3am but that is set for South African time so it would have been about 11am.

Lighting

Nothing worth sharing at all. Sorry. It was just a normal not too hot overcast day. (great for travelling)

Equipment

Camera used was point and shoot Panasonic Lumix T-something.. Unfortunately I no longer have it as it was stolen just about a month ago.

Inspiration

I drove past this fenced off, gated and locked place with the most unusual array of old things. At a quick glance it could have been just an ordinary junk yard but a turn around and second look revealed all these lovely only vehicles and other items very cleverly placed. Kinda like it had been displayed like that. Very odd and actually a bit creepy as there was no one around for miles and this place and stuff was just sitting there. Fell in love with it and shot what I could through the wire mesh fence hoping to hell I would not come across a snake in the long grass along the property!!!. Unfortunately I didnt take enough photographs so will be going back to find this place next time I go to Australia.

Editing

Oh I have given up trying to fathom out how the hell Photoshop works!! I slightly straighten or do a bit of cropping and a tweak of colour on Picasa and that is all I can get my head around and even then its a bit hit and miss!!

In my camera bag

I have two Canon 350D. One with a 18-55mm zoom and one with a 75-300mm zoom. I also have a 50mm fixed lens and a 35-80mm. 2 SD cards and 3 batteries and a charger. My tripod is a cheap generic one that is more of a mission than anything else but I need to dust the cobwebs off it and get it operational again.
