Location
I live in the foothills of the Cascade mountains and one of the first signs of spring in the Pacific NW are the trilliums growing in the woods. This is a bud I found mid-April out behind our house.Time
It was taken during an evening walk about an hour before sunset.Lighting
Light was a little low due to the fact that I was in a heavily wooded area. Luckily my camera does great in low light!Equipment

It doesn't take much to inspire me to take a photo! I'm always looking and anything to do with nature is right there at the top of things I like to shoot.Editing
Post processing consisted of cropping and a slight levels adjustment in Phototshop Elements. I often do a lot more, but I liked this one pretty much the way it came out of the camera. Sometimes you just can't improve on Mother Nature. ;)In my camera bag
Besides the macro lens that I already mentioned, I also have a 18-55 zoom and a 55-210 zoom - all Sony E mount lenses... When I'm not toting the camera bag around, I always have my trusty iPhone for those quick "Kodak moments".Feedback
Trilliums grow in forested areas and are only in bloom for a short time. Once they open the blooms don't last long, so snap those pictures when you see them. If you plan to come back in a day or two they may have already withered away. I've taken many photos of the open flowers, but this bud is actually my favorite.
