I took this at a friends house. I was actually cat sitting, and Annabelle was laying by the door in her house so I decided to take a few cute pictures for her mom.Time
If i remember correctly, this was taken in the late afternoon, probably around 5 PM. We were waiting out a storm.Lighting
I love natural light, so when she was by the glass door I saw my chance to get a few cute shots. It was cloudy out so the lighting wasn't too harsh, it was just right in my opinion.Equipment
I used my Canon Rebel T2i with the basic 18-55mm lens that came in the kit. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I love animals, all animals, and so whenever I get a chance to take photographs of any animal I jump at the opportunity. Annabelle is such a beautiful cat and I know I love having good pictures of my dogs, so I figured not only would I enjoy taking these pictures, but her mom would also love them! She actually got a few for a christmas present.Editing
I tend to not do much post-processing. Generally, at least when I took this picture, I leveled out the lighting on Photoshop, upped the vibrance, and did a low "smart sharpen" effect. That was all most of my pictures needed.In my camera bag
I always have my Canon Rebel, of course, in my bag. I also always have my Canon 18-55mm lens, and my 75-300 lens. I also normally carry my fish-eye/macro lens.Feedback
Natural light. I can't stress this enough. I love natural lighting. It just does something to a picture. Also, cats are very stubborn creatures, so be patient. Wait until the cat is where you want her to be on her own. Forcing an animal to take a picture or pose in a certain spot can make for not so happy animals, and that just isn't good for your pictures. Also, shoot something you're passionate about. Animals are my passion, and so are landscapes, so that is what I shoot. Photography is, in my opinion, all about being passionate.
