Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from the bridge over the Passadumkeag river in Maine.

Time

This was taken in the early afternoon when my wife and I were driving around looking for some good foliage shots.

Lighting

It was pretty over cast with the sun popping through from time to time.

Equipment

It was taken with my Canon T5i with a Tamron 18-270mm lens at 33mm, ISO 400, f/16, 1/50 sec. It was taken in raw format and then processed in Photoshop.

Inspiration

I recognized the potential as my wife and I started driving over the bridge.

Editing

I did some basic processing in Adobe Raw to make lens correction, increased vibrance and clarity. Then I cropped it bit from the original and added some sharpening.

In my camera bag

I carry with me a 50mm lens, 100mm macro lens, lens brush and circular polarizing filter. I also have my tripod but did not use it for this photo as I was able to steady the camera on the bridge.

Feedback

When I am looking for landscape photo opportunities, I look form some water that is calm and can provide nice reflections. I also look for some unique feature that can be included. In this case it was the railroad bridge in the background. I generally shoot in aperture priority mode and adjust my ISO to increase my shutter speed to eliminate camera shake.
