Behind The Lens
Location
at home in mt conservatory whilst experimenting with different ideas for a project about my cancer jorneyTime
it was late evening..not that it would have made a difference as it was shot in a darkened room with one mounted daylight bulb and a reflectorLighting
i needed the flower to look as if it was bleeding and wanted catchlights on the 'blood'the light was quite harsh to make it feel dramaticEquipment
shot on a canon 70d with 50mm lens close in on subject.Inspiration
i was putting together a series of images to represent my personal journey with breast cancer and trying to represent the pain within...sickness health contrasts...what you see if you scratch the surface beneath the brave facadeEditing
i used lightroom to tweak the contrast exp luminance and clarityIn my camera bag
always a silver reflector an off camera flash cable and off camera shutter relase. black and white sheets and a knee pad for getting down on that floor!! and a notepad and pen to jot down details i might need to remember.Feedback
red food colouring administered via a syringe makes for good blood!! think outside the box as to how you can represent an idea
