Location
This photo was taken at Hole in the Wall, Coffee Bay, Eastern Cape, South AfricaTime
This photo was taken just before 12:00. It was taken on the 7th of December 2011Lighting
Since the photo was basically taken in midday, there is a strong light falling the main subject. This allows the subject's texture to be well defined with the strong shadows.Equipment
This photo was taken in my early photography days when I still only has a Canon 300D and the 18-55 Kit lens.Inspiration
I was on holiday with my family at Hole in the wall. I just when on a hike, taking photos along the way. The is a abundance of photos of Hole in the wall where people just zoom in on the Hole and miss all the surrounding landscape.Editing
Those days I did not really know about Photoshop and I took my photos in JPEG. I did not do any post-processing on this photo. In my camera bag
Those days I only had a Canon 300D, 18-55mm and 70-300mm Kit lens. Now I carry a Canon 70D for main body, a 40D for backup, Tamron 24-70 F2.8, Canon 70-200 f2.8, Canon 50mm f1.8 and a Sigma EF-610 DG Super Flash. Of course I always have spare batteries and a spare memory card with me.Feedback
Always remember the is more than just the subject. Try capturing the surrounding landscape and nature that is around the subject.
