Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at a cemetery.

Time

I took this photo at 11:00 a.m. It was a super cold day and had a really cooperative model. I remember we had to warm up often because of it being bitter cold. It was a fun shoot and a great experience to work with someone so open and cooperative.

Lighting

The lighting out side was perfect. It was a semi cloudy day with the sun peeking out at times. I love natural light and this late fall day gave us that.

Equipment

Well funny thing is my good camera was out for repair so I shot this on a Nikon cool pix camera. I was lucky enough that i was able to get some good pictures with this. I since have a better back up camera. At the time of this shoot I didn't want to cancel it so I went with it. I was lucky to get good results!

Inspiration

I wanted to show the dark side of a shoot. I went on to do the other side with an angel in white pulling the dark angel through the gates "of heaven". It was a great shot and have future plans this month or next to continue shooting this to use it as a sequel.

Editing

Actually since I used natural light I really didn't use a lot of post processing.

In my camera bag

Normally i have a Canon t3i and have my 18-55 lens, 75-300 lens, 55-250 and 50mm f/2.5m, extra battery pack, speed lite, polarizer cap, colored cap, extra memory card, my lens hood, strap.

Feedback

Be prepared for any kind of weather for a shoot. We had extreme cold and wind and no light. We were prepared because we knew it was going to be cold and brought blankets, hot chocolate and gloves so between shots we could warm up. I knew the sun was suppose to be in and out and we made the best of it. I wasn't prepared for my camera to break down so I was lucky even with the camera I used that I was able to still get some great shots. I can't wait to do the next shoot! Always be prepared food, drink and warmth if the weather is cold.
