Behind The Lens

Location

The above photo was taken at the local zoo. Potter Park Zoo here in Lansing MI

Time

I'm a frequent visitor to the zoo and just enjoy seeing the exhibits and just watching. This was taken early afternoon in the winter

Lighting

The bald eagles are one of my favorite exhibits to hang out around. There are 3 bald eagles and all have different dispositions. The day I captured this image all three of them were being rather elusive and just not happy I was there. This one headed off because he didn't want to "play" so to speak. I stuck around for a little longer to see if the other 2 would cooperate so to speak but not to be. Just wasn't the day for photos I guess. As I was leaving the exhibit I passed a hutch in the exhibit and there he was. Keeping an eye on me and saying "Move on, nothing to see here". Pointed my lens thru the mesh fencing and this is the result. It was a battle of wills.. I had one opportunity and got that 1 shot off.

Equipment

Canon 5D Mark III, 70-200 L series 2.8. and no other equipment.

Inspiration

Wasn't planning on it, it presented itself.

Editing

All my post processing is done in LR. Adjusted exposure, contrast, highlights and shadows. There is a slight black vignette applied.

In my camera bag

Usually don't travel with a bag. I hand carry what I think I might need and work with what I have.

Feedback

When working with wildlife, need to have patience and no expectations. Be open to it all and take what THEY give you...
