Location
I took this photo in my garden in Hampshire, in the UKTime
The photo was taken late afternoon in the springtimeLighting
It was quite a dark dull day and got the best results using some flashEquipment
The shot was taken using my canon 1100D with my 18-55mm kit lens, with the pop-up flash. It was taken handheld.Inspiration
I had been feeding a pair of robins all through the winter with live mealworms. By the springtime when they had nested they were tame enough to feed from my hand. When their chicks were hatched, they were even tamer and would take four or five at a time back to their nest. I would hold the mealworms with my left hand and take the shots with my right. It took months of work to get this right, but I think it paid off.Editing
I gave the photo just a bit of extra brightness to bring out the coloursIn my camera bag
At the time, I only owned the Canon 1100D, the kit lens and a 90-300mm zoom lens, so I really had all my kit all of the time.Feedback
Be very very patient and your hard work will pay off. It won't happen overnight to get wildlife so tame.
