Location
It was taken at Lincolnshire wolds railway in Fulstow. The engine was featured in a bbc comedy series, but the name escapes me at present.Time
It was taken mid afternoon on Easter Sunday this yearLighting
Although it was sunny there was a lot of broken cloud to give great lightingEquipment
I was using a Nikon d3100 with sigma 18-250 mmInspiration
I love the old steam engines and I took it with a view to creating a great atmosphere.Editing
It was a raw image processed through photomatix 5. Then imported to elements 12 using topaz plug ins to reduce the noise and convert to black and white. I then used a bit of tweaking in photo director 5In my camera bag
I use a USA gear camera rucksack. It usually contains Nikon d3100, sigma 18-250, sigma 10-20mm. A raynox 150 macro adapter and external sigma flash. The only filters I really use are uv lens protection. I have a high end Jessops tripod but I don't use it very oftenFeedback
Digital is free. Take lots of shots and don't be afraid to experiment with post processing
