Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on an 18 wheeler driving a long central Texas highway. The lighting was right, the sky was the perfect color, and the glass was showing me everything that I left behind.

Time

The weather perfect for this shot. I had the windows down, feeling the cool wind blowing, and being my final afternoon of the work week, I couldn't resit taking this shot at 6pm on this day.

Lighting

The first cold front of winter was just blowing in, so it gave the sky an ominous look with the sunlight peaking perfectly through the clouds. It gave the correct lighting for this great evening.

Equipment

At the time, I used a cell phone camera to capture the full on moment that was unveiling before my eyes. From this very moment on, I swore I'd carry my other camera with me everywhere, everytime...even at work! Lesson learned, but still appreciated.

Inspiration

My eyes wonder about all day long, and my mind can never help but to be distracted from photo opportunities that I constantly see. This one, I couldn't pass up, even if my cell phone was all I had in hand at the moment.

Editing

I did. I used some extra contrast to assist in bringing out the details. Along with that, I did some blurring for the background. Thankfully, the perfect lighting from the incoming cold front helped assist in the shot.

In my camera bag

Nothing major, normally. Between my GoPro, cell phone, and Olympus TG-6, I can normally get a decent shot. I plan to, one day, purchase a much better camera set up.

Feedback

Be patient. Everything will line up eventually, and you will get that perfect shot you're looking for. If not that day, another day will come along with another opportunity that will blow you away with excitement.
