Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a small bedroom I use to practice my indoor photos, I am trying to learn all I can about lighting and settings for better indoor photography

Time

This was probably taken before her nap time while she was still willing to semi cooperate, with a baby under the age of 2 you must be willing to wait for the right moment and snap a whole lot of photos that you will later delete. She has calmed down for a minute and looked up at cartoons I had blaring from the TV on the wall. It just happened to be the one I was waiting for

Lighting

Lighting is so foreign still to me, I have 2 small umbrella lights that are white and 1 reflective I am trying to learn placement for them in order to get the best lighting possible until I can afford to buy better equipment

Equipment

This was taken with a Canon 70 D 50 mm lens often called the nifty fifty f/2 1/125 ISO 800 spot metering

Inspiration

I love being able to dress her up and try different things, she thinks it I our came called "cheese" so she will beg me to play our game. I just go through the clothes I have for her here and try a lot of different things in this process it gives her time to spend with me her NiNi and she thinks it is our own private "Cheese" party

Editing

It was taken in raw so I did go in and soften the skin tone and open up the color in her eyes - I did use lightroom and picmomkey just to make sure the colors looked correct but it actually took very little editing

In my camera bag

I always carry my Canon 70 D as well as a smaller canon I have my 70 - 300mm my 50 mm along with 18 - 135mm and 24 - 105mm as well as the remote, off camera flash and extra batteries and cards

Feedback

my way is of course a beginners way I let her play and I snap the camera, I don't want stiff and posed I like to catch her just being her,,,,,,,,,Is it difficult to get a good one well not if you are willing to take possibly 300 pictures and then look through all of them. I am like I said a beginner and I have been working at improving for a couple of years and I still have a long way to go. I feel like I learn something everytime I pick up my camera, the key to me is just simply not give up.
