Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is of the Gayundah Shipwreck at Woody Point in Queensland, Australia.

Time

I wanted to capture the shipwreck with a long exposure and so waited till the golden hour to do so.

Lighting

This image was all natural lighting. I got lucky that day.

Equipment

I used the Nikon D800 with a Sigma 10-20mm zoom lens. For this image I also added an ND filter so I could get a longer exposure.

Inspiration

I'm a landscape and stock photographer, this image was apart of my stock photography assignment to capture Queensland shipwrecks.

Editing

Yep! I wanted to give the image an overall golden tone and did so using adjustment layer "selective colours" in Photoshop. I also used the structure setting in the In Viverza to bring out the wrecks metals.

In my camera bag

The Nikon D800, a 24-70mm Nikkor lens and 70-200mm Nikkor Lens, cable release. ND Filter, Graduated Filter and Polarizing Filter.

Feedback

When capturing sunset images. Arrive 30mins before and stay 30mins-1hr after to sunset to get the best colours. Use your white balance settings to capture the tones you really want. Use the self timer function or cable release. Use your histogram.
