Behind The Lens

Location

Shay Park, Arcata, Ca. A small patch of redwoods that used to be the site of an old lumber mill, and was restored several years ago into a beautiful little park.

Time

Early morning.

Lighting

Not really.

Equipment

Canon EOS Rebel T3i, 75-300 mm. lens @ 300 mm. handheld.

Inspiration

Shay Park is close to where I live and I go there often to seek out the beauty that abounds there, and on this day it came in the form of this beautiful butterfly...I really had no choice. How could I not take this photo?!!

Editing

I do some post-processing in Photoshop elements. In this case it was fairly minimal, I just increased the contrast a little.

In my camera bag

I just grab my camera and a couple extra batteries.

Feedback

Small creatures like butterflies, other insects, and birds can be very difficult to capture, so I have three words of advice...practice, practice, practice.
