Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken on the banks of the Boise river in Boise Idaho. The office I work at is right next to the river. I'm fortunate that I can take a ten minute walk and have beautiful scenery to photograph.Time
It was gloomy fall day around noon, just as the rain started to sprinkle adding a nice detail to the river rocks.Lighting
This photo was taken before I ever put much thought into lighting. I would take my camera with me on my breaks at work hoping to find a good shot. This day was cold fall day, the overcast clouds lent nicely to bring out the colors in the granite of the rocks without blowing out any highlights.Equipment
This was taken on my Canon Xsi with an 18-55mm Kit lens. Taken with by hand without a tripod.Inspiration
Growing up in Idaho I've always had a love for the rivers and lakes it has to offer. The way the river has warn the these rocks to smooth stones over thousands of years has always been intriguing to me.Editing
This photo was lightly processed in Light Room, taking up the contrast and embellishing the colors just a bit.In my camera bag
I carry my Canon XSi, cannon 50mm 1.8, 18-55mm Kit and cannon 75-300mm 1.4 in my bag. I always have my tripod and polarizer ready for a nice landscape as well.Feedback
Get out and take photos, be patient and don't get deterred. I try to get out and take photos as much as I can, practice makes perfect. Take a shot three or four different times from three or four different angles. Keep trying and you're bound to get the results you are looking for.
