Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in our back garden after the spring rain shower, the micro-sized raindrops are on a native Kauri tree leaf

Time

It was early morning and the sun was just starting to come out from behind the clouds and the raindrops were sparkly and reflected the filtered sunlight, so the light was even and no shadows

Lighting

no, just all-natural light, didn't need extra lighting - nature provided the perfect light with the cloud cover and filtered sunlight

Equipment

just used my Nikon D5300, and a 35mm prime lens and set it to fast burst mode ad the raindrops were dripping off the leaves

Inspiration

The leaves looked so beautiful and sparkly in the sunlight - like nature's jewels

Editing

no just cropped a little bit and sharpened, nature doesn't need too much improvement

In my camera bag

just a camera, flash, and 3 lenses, 35mm, 85mm, macro, I rarely use a tripod as it is bulky and awkward to transport, my monopod is easier to take with me

Feedback

just go out and practice, after raindrops, during a light shower, take advantage of the weather and cloudy days as they are the best for raindrop photos
