Behind The Lens

Location

This was in downtown Vernon, BC Canada in the springtime when these flowers had just opened on the trees lining the street!

Time

As I remember, it was around 10:30 in the morning! I'd gone out to do some photography of springtime flowers and had spent the earlier part of the day looking on the ground for violets (no luck there at the time) and then looked up and spotted the trees in bloom!

Lighting

Not really? It was a clear spring day and was quite bright and a little windy, but not noon-time brilliant so I just went with it.

Equipment

All I used was the camera in my hands at the time since I was just starting out with more expensive cameras. No flash, no tripod, and I used the kit lens that came with my Coolpix L330 ! This was about a year before I got my Canon T5i!

Inspiration

I set out looking for flowers. I spotted flowers, and a bonus honey bee!

Editing

Not for this photograph I don't think!

In my camera bag

Normally I choose one lens that goes on my camera, and potentially another one for macro photos. I also bring the bag and a small tripod that can be set up anywhere like on a rock, the ground or a picnic table. I prefer the GorillaPod 3K for my cameras because it's flexible and not too large to lug around for hours on end.

Feedback

Just...have fun with it! Go outside on a nice day in spring and you'll find all kinds of subjects for photos, make sure your camera is set up for those quick-moving little honeybees (I use around 1/1000 for shutter speed).
