Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken in a my college studio as part of my portraiture unit for my HNC

Time

The shot was taken at 2pm approximately and was part of a set of portraiture images I was taking to build my portfolio along with my model Nicole portfolio too.

Lighting

this shot was taken using natural window light from the bay windows in the studio and it was overcast that day which provided a natural soft lighting upon Nicoles face and parts of her body.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D5100 with the Nikon 18-105mm Kit lens

Inspiration

when I was changing up my lighting set up I always switch the lights off and i caught a glimps of the light pouring in thru a gap in the studio curtains and took the opportunity to get some natural light shots.

Editing

the only editing I done was simply convert the image to Black & White then sharpen it by 10% to make it a nice ly toned Monochrome portrait.

In my camera bag

I normally have Nikon d5100- 18-105mm Nikon d5300- 18-140mm Sigma- 70-300 Nikon 50mm 1.4 Nikon SB24 Flashes X2 Nikon SB26 Flash Spare Batteries Various Filter (ND, UV etc)

Feedback

Keep the lighting simple but try a few different areas in your home or on location to try and create a low key portrait
