she was a meth and heroin addict and was homeless from some time before she showed up on my doorstep. She stayed the night and left the next morning. A few weeks later she called me and asked me to pick her up. Her boyfriend had just shot her in the arm. She came to live with me after that. She had a few relapses in the year she spent with me, so she decided to enter a 2 year program to get sober. This was taken only a few days before she was to enter into the rehab program. I wanted to take pics of the sunflowers and she asked to come along. I caught this moment as she wandered the field. She's doing well now, clean for a year and on her way back to getting her daughter back. She's lived too much life for being so young.
