Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Manasota Beach in Englewood Florida.

Time

One of my favorite times to walk the beach is to watch the sunset. While I was walking barefoot through the sand and water, I happen to look over at the lanai of a beach house and there was an egret just hanging out.

Lighting

No special lighting, no flash, all natural light from the sun starting to set.

Equipment

I don't have any expensive or fancy equipment. I just use a canon power shot s x 150

Inspiration

I love nature and a lot of the bigger birds here in Florida are so used to people you can get pretty close. I think it's neat every time I can get a little closer with the hope the next shot will be even better. I do this solely for enjoyment

Editing

No post-processing I like my photos to remain natural, unpolished, unedited.

In my camera bag

I go with light and compact like my canon s x 150, I do a lot of walking and prefer not having to carry a lot of heavy equipment.

Feedback

I still consider myself very much an amateur but this is what I like to do in my spare time. I never go out with any expectation of getting shots of anything specific, I just go with the flow and whatever happens or doesn't happen is cool. Just like this photo above of the egret with the double silhouette honestly I didn't notice the second silhouette until I looked at the photo on the camera screen after I took the shot, was a very nice surprise. Even if you think you don't see anything snap a photo any way sometimes you never know until you upload and take a closer look, you could be pleasantly surprised. Most of a all take photos of things you love and just have fun doing it..
