Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my best friends apartment in the upper east side of Manhattan, NYC.

Time

This image was taken in the afternoon, on a bright but cloudy day.

Lighting

This lighting just kind of happened. The lighting and white walls allowed for me to take photos with the feel of being in a very well lit studio.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon Rebel T3i camera and the standard kit lens EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

There was another photoshoot taking place outside on the balcony, and we decided to do an impromptu shoot for my then jewelry line Anahid K Jewelry.

Editing

Post processing was involved. I used Lightroom to brighten up the photo and make the colors pop.

In my camera bag

I normally have the body of my camera, all my lenses: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II, Canon 40mm F/2.8 STM, Canon 24-105mm F/4 L IS USM Macro, and Canon EF 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II Telephoto. I also have my Canon 430EX Speedlite Flash and Leica C-Lux 3 Black Digital Camera. The day of this shoot, I was only equipped with my 18-55 lens.

Feedback

Always have your camera with you. Even if you have one standard kit lens, its best to have something to take advantage of opportunities that randomly present themselves. If I didn't have my camera that day I took this photo, I would have never had a beautiful image like that that so many respond to. Sometimes spontaneity helps create the best images.
