Tari Barong (Barong Dance)
"Barong" is a character in the mythology of Bali, whereas in Java called "Barongan". He is the king of the spirits and symbolize goodness. He is an enemy of Rangda in the mythology of Bali. Banas Pati Rajah is the spirit that accompany a child in her life. Banas Pati Rajah is believed to be the spirit that drives the Barong. As a guardian spirit, Barong is often shown as a lion. Traditional operas in Bali which depicts the battle between Barong and Rangda is well known and often performed as a tourist attraction.
