Location
This picture was taken near the famous National monument of Portugal, Igreja de São Gonçalo.Time
It was about 10 in the morning and was a lovely and sunny day.Lighting
The weather was perfect and we had good but not harsh sunlight. The trees added a little bit of contrast and shading to complement the picture.Equipment
This was taken handheld using Canon 650D 18-135 STM. No flash was used and was captured in RAW format for post-processing later.Inspiration
I was on my way to Douro with my family and stopped by the town of Amarante to pay tribute to São Gonçalo at Igreja de São Gonçalo. We parked our car near the church and we walked up this path where I found a spot that offered a bit of shading from the low hanging trees. I loved the beautiful flowers around those trees very much and decided to frame the church using these plants.Editing
I almost always shoot Raw and do post-processing afterward. However, they are kept to the minimum and no Photoshop or modification was done on the picture other some minor adjustment on highlight and shadow to bring out the contrast and slight nudge on vibrance and saturation give the photo a bit of punch. In my camera bag
When I am travelling, I tend to travel light. I always keep the 18-135mm STM with me as it is extremely versatile. I also carry the 40mm STM with me so that I can get some good bokeh and sharpness when needed or when I am in tricky lighting situation. I have a mini tripod just in case. ColorChecker Passport is something that I take quite seriously to make sure I get the exact colour I want and to streamline the post-processing afterwards.Feedback
Think about composition and contrasting brightness and colours. Try to think about that 'wow' moment that captures your heart and be ready to share that with the others.
